Our club was very well represented at the Bay Cruise Reunion Lunch held this year on Sunday 6th November at the Moreton Bay Trailer Boat Club at Manly. Whilst we did not come home with any of the trophies presented we again gave notice that the MBBC is a big and supportive participant in the Annual Interclub Bay Cruise.
Nearly 100 people attended and along with myself, they included Mike and Sue Kinder, Chris, Therese and Emily Marty, John, David, Deanne, and Dominic Elliott, Susie and Brodie James-Brown, Sharon, Barry, Jamie and Ryan Felshow, and new members who attended the cruise and joined our club a week later Nick, Nicky, Oliver, Becs, and Alice Morgan.
It was a good day to catch up with everyone, an excellent buffet meal was put on by the MBTBC, and the general camaraderie was enjoyed by all, even if the cruise re-naming of “Sunshine” saga was extended by Susie presenting me with a “just add water” hand towel with Little Miss Sunshine emblazoned on it as a keepsake – much to the Marty’s mirth. It appears I am being ganged up on!
The winner of the Best Host Club of the cruise was the Moreton Bay Trailer Boat Club for hosting the Italian Night at their grounds at Southern Haven on South Stradbroke , mind you the success of this event was ably assisted by the sing-a-long musicians which included a number of MBBC members.
The major club participation trophy is for the Best Participating Club this year was adjudged to be the BOAT club. Not only did they have good participation numbers, but they also hosted a very successful final evening at Boathaven which unfortunately I, and a number of our members missed due to heading back home a day early.
The John Hattrick Trophy awarded to the best participating family on the cruise, this year went to Patrick, Cheryl, and Jordy Tessier of the boat “Gracie Lee” from SYC.
Finally, John Elliott, this year’s Rear Commodore who, along with wife Maria, did a magnificent job as Committee members and as our club Bay Cruise delegates, are to be thanked for all their efforts, they represented our club with distinction.
All of us are looking forward to next year’s cruise already.
